News & Life
Simple habits that prevent most of the emergency situations we see arrive in files.
The five habits
- Keep a digital copy of every document you send
- Note the date of every filing and every file number
- Set an alert three months before any expiry
- Report any change of address to IRCC
- Never travel without checking your return status
Why it matters
Nearly every status emergency starts as a small oversight: an expiry missed by two weeks, a letter sent to an old address, a filing date no one wrote down. Five minutes of habit spare months of repair.
